Have you ever been zipping along not paying attention and smack something with your hands, or pinch your hands or fingers agains the bars and a log or something? Well i have...and ya know what! IT HURTS! alot. I have broken numerous fingers from this. The remedy...Brush busters from acerbis. these are awesome. made of stiff plastic, they wont break, they protect levers/perches etc. No matter what brand or how expensive/cheap they are, you should invest in some of these if you worry about your hands. Not to mention keeping them warm.

If you are talking about the enclosed protectors. Only use them when it is cold. Don't use them anymore than you have too. They are dangerous. Thay break rists. I was warned about it and then nearly did just that. It was scarey. I still have them and will use them if the weather requires it. I mostly use the original metal bark busters. They not only save your fingers and levers but they reinforce your handlebars. Take a look at my bikes. They are wearing them.
