It was a hot summer day. I was at work on the trail of the Hiawatha. I sat there on the tailgate of my '86 F-150 with a sandwich in one hand, and a gatorade in the other.
I sat there, eating my lunch when suddenly I heard over the radio that there were motorycleists coming my way. (we warn them about trail restrictions) When they came aroudn the corner they saw my pickup loaded up with my '80 XR500. They did as any motoryclist would do, the pulled up and stopped. They asked if there were any tunnels that were unrestricted that they could ride their bikes through. I directed them to the nearest tunnel, tunnel 21. Tunnel 21 is open to all vehicles and has protective barriers to protect bicycleist and hikers from being literally ran over. They were very grateful. One of the riders in the group intorduced herself. "A female rider?" i thought to myself. You dont see women riders that often. Riding my dream bike... ('83 or '84 XR500R) in almost perfect condition. I was amazed. I immediately had to check this thing out. We began talking about bikes and riding and such. She introduced me to to an organization she was a member of. Hmm I thought, ya know why not check it out I thought to myself. Cant hurt anything right. So i did and descovered that there was actually alot that went on at that particular website...hmm i thought and registered. Since that day I have been a member of the CDA trail riders.
And that is how I found this interesting and dedicated organization.
Makes me look forward to every day at work...you just never know.

That scooter you coveted was almost mine. When I first met Esther she was riding a 250 and told me I had to ride with her. I got my hands on this beautiful XR500 and friends told me I would never want for more power. Unfortunately it was more than I was ready for. During our first ride together Esther took it away from me and she has never given it back. Go figure.
