Jim Merriman will be hosting the Laird Park Trail Clearing. We need about 8 people for a full day so if we have more, we'll get done faster and get to ride.
Jim will post specifics shortly and directions are in the Directions Forum.

I will meet Mike Peterson and Cynthia Cole at the project site this Sunday morn at 9:00 (July 31) to get all the details. I will be camping at The Dredge Pond this weekend and look forward to checking out the trails as I have not had a chance to ride since we did trail cleanup. I will post more info next week.

Jim Kinservik and I met with Mike Peterson last Sunday to get details and to look over project area. Just to give you an idea and heads up, the proposed trail is flagged out through the brush and deadfalls. Trail is approx. 3/4 to 1 mile. We don't really have to move the brush as trailcat can push brush out of way. Due to fire danger and restrictions we may have to adhere to hoot owl regulations. Hoot Owl means saws and equipment must be out of woods by 1pm, then a fire watch for 1hr. If possible we should bring only saws, bikes, and homemade chili with USFS approved fire arresters, as we will have FS personnel on scene with us. Mike peterson with FS has asked if it would be possible to have a potluck BBQ after work day, at camp, for Forest personel and PANTRA to get to know each other. Sounds like good idea, but because my cooking is limited, I must ask if others if this would be possible? We need a good turnout, I realize this is not a money project for our club, but with our volunteer agreement to do this is how FS recieved grant to pay for trailcat. Sunday morn. I will take you on Beals Butte, I got a chance to ride it last weekend, except for dust, the trail is in great shape with a few challenging spots for us old guys, the young men in our bunch waited for us. I hope we can get a good turnout for this workday, as it really does give us a good relationship with land managers. And it is fun!

Hi Folks,
By now I'm sure you have about heard enough from me, but I'm like gum on your shoe! Next weekend a couple of us are heading down to Laird for a day trip Sat. Aug 13th. to clear out some of the more difficult areas of new trail that I don't think we can do in one day. If anyone else that can't make it on the 27th. could help out this 13th. would be appreciated. Will leave town (Post Falls) about 6:00am, stop for breakfast, then head into Laird. Remember fire safety equip, fire extinguisher, safety glasses, gloves, drinking water. Must have spark arrestors. Call me at 208-659-0047(cell).

Hi again,
We had a good turnout this last weekend to work on new trail. Eight of us and Mike Peterson from FS cleared almost half of proposed trail from the top down. I hope we can get enough help to finish by noon on 27th. I may provide a small meal again when we get back to camp so as nobody goes hungry on the trip home. I will go in Fri. night and stay thru Sun. If you plan on going let me know so I have enough burgers and dogs for all, and to plan work party.

So Jim, how many people do you have coming to clear trail? We may make it down on Friday and leave Saturday night. You said in an earlier post you would like some homemade chili, are you still wanting some? If you do I can whip up a couple of batches to bring with us. Let me know.

Sherri,
At this time I'm not sure how many will show, I know of about 7 that committed, hope for at least 8 more. I think some chilli would go great with my BBQ plan Sat afternoon. My wife plans on making a chicken noodle salad to go with burgers and dogs. Just plan on modest late lunch, then hopefully a ride. If your family can make it down, would be great and help on trail will be appreciated.

Jim,
I will be there Saturday only. Starting at the meadows? What time? Should I bring any tools?

Paul,
If coming down for the Day, lets meet at the Strycnine Bridge at 8:00am. When you hit the end of pavement and pass by Forest Service Laird Park Campground, the bridge is only 200yrds. If someone is late, I'll have someone running back to bridge at 9:00 to show way up. In the afternoon will head back to meadow for BBQ and hopefully a ride. Tools such as brush cutters, pruners would be helpful, and chainsaw if got one.
Jim will post specifics shortly and directions are in the Directions Forum.
